The History of Silverstone Race Circuit
There is so much history behind the legendary circuit which makes it so famous now-a-days. The Track started out as Airfield in the war and slowly started to take shape in a race circuit for the first race in 1927. The original length of the track was 3.7 miles and the corners were made out of hay bales and oil drums. The first corner to be given it name at Silverstone was Club, in 1948.
There were many corners to come after that Woodcote, Becketts, Maggots, Abbey, Stowe and Copse. The Garages were built in 1974/75 they saw 44 new garages been built so more and more competitors could come and challenge the corners of Silverstone.
The Grand prix is held there every year and it welcomes all types of racing to the circuit from single seaters to bikes, Formula Ford. Every year there is an event that is held in November and the cars from the Formula Ford 1600 and its pure elimination round basis racing drivers from all championship come to compete in the championship.
